Spoiler alert: it’s a very common story of slightly controlling man married weak woman, he pays for everything so she should be grateful. I only kept listening because the other reviews promised twists and turns. I couldn’t care less what happened to them. Her husband is a 2 dimensional person from the start.
The main character is dull, boring and weak.
There was no character building, I didn’t like any of the people in the book except perhaps the very small part of long suffering Aunt Charlotte. What a waste of 9 hours, luckily I listen to audible when I’m busy doing other things or if have been very upset, There is no twist whatsoever unless you count the weird unlikely ‘coincidence’ in the epilogue.
