It is the best sort of spy novel, with twists, intrigue, and a careful application of the mainstays of the genre. Amberlough is titled after the city in which the novel takes place, the primary piece of an original setting that suggests 1930s Europe without speaking its name.Īmberlough is the absolute best of its kind. The three of them are challenged to navigate a country being overcome by a fascist regime, their livelihoods labeled “immoral” and their sexualities newly forbidden.
